Many of you may know that our communal living situation has decided to break up at the end of our lease cycle (Sept.) which is sad, but also nice, since Jake & I will get a chance to see how much truth there is to all the sentences that start with "When we get our own place...".  I have confirmation that we ARE in fact a landlord's wet dream from the owner of our teeny tiny dream house, which we will be signing the lease on later this week.  I have been crossing my fingers since Friday night.  So excited!!!

YAY!!! That's very exciting!

I hope this new situation is happy and fuffiling, and I can't wait to hear about how you're going to organize the new house!

That rocks! Is the teeny tiny dream house (heretofore referred to as TTDH) also in Somerville?

Could it possibly be my TTDH if it was in any other city? For reference, the TTDH is about two blocks from Cos's old apartment in the big brick building.

That is awesome! I think it's also easier for me to get to as well ;P.

It'll be weird moving to Ward 2. I'll have to cultivate opinions on Maryann Heuston, the local alderman.

a) That is fantastic news! Yay Dali Square!

b) Did your landlord actually say "wet dream"? What an amazing landlord.

My (future) landlord did NOT say "wet dream" but she did apologize before asking me if we were planning to have kids and letting me know that she didn't think the stairs of the TTDH were kid friendly, so she didn't want us to live there if we were going to have a baby.

Yay! So, uh, that means you are staying in Somerville and not moving to any of the places you mentioned last we talked?

It means at least that I am staying here, and Jake is either staying here or flying a lot, but with the home-base being here.

Whoa. Flying a lot and not being there for weekdays?

"a lot" is an as-yet-not-defined term.

Yay for not leaving Somerville!

The baby remark is a little alarming because I think it is illegal to ask such a question. Plus some landlords don't want to rent to people with kids because then they have to spend money to get rid of lead paint so they make up other reasons not to rent to people with kids or with kid potential.

So this is an actual tiny standalone house?

In Ward 2 it is easy to get on the Democratic Ward Committee. They have plenty of open slots.
