Am I getting old or something?  Who can tell me what ENOPANTS means?  I really have no idea.

It's at least a programming thing - in Unix, system calls return error numbers, and they're all given names by the "errno.h" file, all starting with E. So:

E2BIG
EACCES
EADDRNOTAVAIL
EALREADY
EBUSY
ENOENT

Some of these are more or less readable than others. But ENOPANTS means, essentially, "Error - you, or your ideas, are lacking pants. Please remedy."

That's my read of it as well, so this would be a really old thing, not a new thing.

A new thing (I think) would be EMOPANTS, which is how I first parsed it. :)

Would that be that your ants were emo or, perhaps more interestingly, that there was an error which meant htat you needed mo' pants. (Maybe yours are ripped or too short, or it's cold and you should put on a second pair.)
